Vancouver is a vibrant coastal city in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by beautiful British Columbia Mountains. The city has a rich multicultural background with strong ties to Asia, resulting in diverse cuisine and cultural activities. Vancouver is a young and active city where people take full advantage of the accessible beaches, ocean and mountains for fun and adventure. The weather is remarkably mild, with a long spring/summer season that doesn’t get too hot, and relatively warm and drippy fall/winter when snow conveniently avoids the city, but drops heavily in the nearby mountains.
The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is just south of the city and both downtown and UBC can be easily navigated by taxi, public bus or ski-train.

Besides running on paths and roads along picturesque beaches, trails through Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver and the Pacific Spirit Park at the UBC campus offer great runs. For the more adventurous, trail running in the local north shore mountains offers a more primal experience and chance to meet and greet the local wildlife.
The Jericho Sailing Centre on the beach between the UBC campus and downtown Vancouver offers instruction and rentals for boats and sailboards. This is a great community center shared by a number of groups including the UBC Sailing Club. All levels are welcome from beginners to pros eager to compete in weekly races.
